The Mike Giant/Dalek opening is this weekend down the street at the Magda Danysz Gallery. Interestingly the evite to the opening says that they will be launching the book Muerte but the book pictured has a different cover and a different name(Coup d'etat), could this be a new book?
The Dead milkmen are such a huge park of my childhood(and I still listen to them a bunch) that I still can't fathom why they aren't huge. Anyway about three people will care about this post(phil, Main and Pat) but the milkmen(who appear to be playing with Johnny Knoxville if the above picture is any indication) have a show in NYC and their officaial site reports that THEY ARE REHEARSING NEW MATERIAL!!! It's been way too long.
Someone tell Tom Neely that this would make a totally bad ass t-shirt.

I listened to the unbelievably cute Lisa Hannigan's latest album Sea Sew on the metro today. The challenge to listening to something on the metro is that it has to be pretty engaging to compete with a group of Hare Krishnas or a crazy eyed Frenchwoman eyeing the seat next to one of your kids.
Those of you who know me know that I love tattoos. If I had more money I'd probably be covered.
I recently came across Thomas Hooper, a tattooist from England now working in NYC. His work is phenomenal, I spent the last two days working my way through his blog Hooper's Electric it is full of amazing pictures of his work. He also has some amazing t shirts that you can buy here.

Last week Phil and I went to the Vic Chesnutt show at Cafe De la Danse. Teitur opened the show followed by Elf Power who also acted as Vic's backing band.
Teitur played amazingly beautiful singer songwriter fare. He explained that he didn't usually play these songs on a guitar(It was just him and a guitar) instead he was a piano guy. Regardless, it sounded great.
Elf Power was next and they sounded great.
Finally Vic Chesnutt took the stage and put on a great show. He and Elf Power made a record together and the majority of the set was from the ew album but he did dip into his back catalog a few times. Vic was very candid and chatty between songs covering subjects from Micheal Stipe and the recording of his first album to Independence day.
As I've said before I love the shuffle feature on the ipod and if I'm not listening to a podcast or a French lesson I'm shuffling. No one but me will find this interesting(I know, my wife told me so) but these are the songs my Ipod played for me today.

Well several semi credible sources are reporting that Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore are engaged. I for one think that's great, he's awesome, she's wicked hot and i assume they are both happy so more power to them. It isn't a shock, they've been seen together off and on for at least a year and if she is part of the reason that he's cleaned up and seemingly got his shit together then god bless her.
Now the important thing is what does this mean for his music career that was (possibly) being put on hold? I'd guess that this will have a positive effect on his desire to make music although we may not see him on the road as much as in the past. Mandy seems like a very centered, level headed woman and that is just what he needs. I'm also a little excited about what this means for her music career, she has a great voice and his influence could really push her in a direction that RA fans would appreciate. Now about getting an invite to the wedding...

Of Montreal rolled into la Bataclan last week and we were there to join the party.
I've mentioned what a great venue la Bataclan is, my biggest gripe, the beer. Kronenberg, a not too great French beer is all that have but you can get wine in a fancy plastic cup. Here Robbie displays one of each.

Of Montreal put on a pretty amazing show. The music is perfect for dancing but the stage show was so crazy that you never want to look away and miss something. The band sounded great but the showmanship was the best part of the evening, there was just so much going on.
I don't know many song names but they played, Gronlandic edit, Wicked Wisdom, She's a Rejector, Bunny ain't no kind of rider, For our elegant caste and a bunch of others before ending with Take Me Out, a Franz Ferdinand cover.
