Gretchen and I had a great time at the Mike Giant/ Dalek opening last night at the Magda Danysz Gallery. The art was absolutely amazing! Dalek's work ranged from small pieces to almost wall size pieces that he had done earlier in the week, they all had his intricate geometric thing going on. It was really easy to get lost in the lines. Mike's work was amazing, his precise work is even more impressive up close. Several of his pieces were Paris inspired and needless to say I've got some new tattoo ideas. I picked up a copy of Coup D'Etat which covers some of Mike Giant's recent work and travels. Many thinks to the Magda Danysz gallery for putting on the show and Drago for the free absinthe.
Slam X Hype has a great write up of the show on their site.

And we saw Dalek... but no Mike

Looks like it was a pretty freakin cool show! I'm totally jealous.
Dalek is a punk. his work is uninspired and built around exploiting a gimmick. despite an education at the art institute of chicago, and a falsified "career in graffiti" (yeah dude, i know you... we run in the same circles) he has managed to pull the wool over a vast audience's eyes. incredible.
special note to "dalek" himself: remember when the Folks gang in Logan Square almost shot you for being a toy and trying to tag "da folk" in the hood? i do. so do real heads that saw the bitch in you since back in the day.
