Attack of the tiny ladybug

How, you may ask, can such a beautiful innocent creature of god cause two grown women to go into a full on freak out? I'm not sure but while okryan and I were catching up on the goings on in the bundesliga Em jumped up from her seat screaming "get it off, get it off" which prompted G! to rocket out of her seat on the couch and fly over to Em, who was bent forward shaking her hair at okryan. G! screamed in sympathy as she attacked the poor ladybug that had gotten caught in em's hair. Once the culprit was dispatched G! made it clear the it haden't ben killed mearly spanked. When the excitement ended okryan proclaimed that if I didn't put this incident on my blog then he would be forced to update his lame ass blog. In all fairness it has been undetermined how much wine had been consumed at this point in the evening, I know I had already had two fajitas.

By the way, Lua is right, Eux Autres are pretty kick ass. Gorilla Vs. Bear has three of their tracks up right now. (Sarah, Download 'Other Girls" before it shows up on your next mix tape)

In other news from Tuesday I had a job interview. In said interview when asked what my dream job would be okryan quickly replied "Fluffer" while I fought to hold back my first three ideas, Porn star, video game tester or candy taster.

Another question was something like "which of my employers did I most admire"? My answer was Bill Alberding. I'm going to put it out there and just say that I love the guy. I think I touched on the fact that he made me feel like family, he would never ask you to do something he wouldn't do, he knows something about everything, he didn't make you feel like an idiot if you didn't know something and he was always willing and able to teach me new things. What didn't come up was the fact that he has one of the greatest moustaches in the united states. Maybe BJ will hook me up with a picture of it that I can post so that you all can bask in its magnificence.

Captain Kirk set phasers on spank

We already know that Cap't Kirk is the most badass human in the entire galaxy so this picture just confirms that fact.

Handle me with care

G! pointed out that I'd already used that picture of Iron & Wine in a previous post so here is an update. Look at that man, he seems to be saying "damn write I could write you that perfect song so lay back, have a cold glass of lemonade, and let me pick awhile".
-the above quote is not real.

Please remember me

This song by Iron & Wine is a gem. It has been rolling around in my head for the last week demanding that I listen to it again and again(G! is about sick of it). It is just a beautiful haunting story song that really makes me want to practice my guitar so I can play a shitty song half as good as it. I have a feeling that this may be a cover since I've never heard it before and own everything by Iron & Wine. Here it is for you to obsess over The Trapeze by Iron & Wine.

Holy night, nothing feels right.

Well thanksgiving is behind us. I had a lot of fun. I will say that a game of basketball right after dinner is a terrible idea, even though okryan and i dominated. From the discussion that took place at the table during dinner I can only conclude that okryan will soon be living on a farm or planting a forest in his living room and pecans will be involved. Maybe the funniest part of the day was watching okryan squirm while Jim told him the history of every chainsaw he had ever owned... fascinating. The food was great, my stomach punished me for the dairy I ate but it was worth it. I kept thinking that we would more than likely be far far away next thanksgiving, kinda sad I know.
Today G! was up at 4:00 to snag all of the great deals. I spent a good solid hour folding socks. The kids and I put the tree together and put on the lights while listening to the Sufjan Christmas eps and that crazy Arcade Fire x-mas album. In honor of the holiday season here is a classic for you Sufjan's That was the worst Christmas ever. Enjoy.
I did contemplate doing another shoe post because i have more to say about awesome shoes i've owned or will own in the future but i didn't want to put most of you to sleep.

Deep in my heart I will remember you

Sorry my last post was interrupted by an amazing deal. I'm not sure but oldham444 just bought a size 9.5 Nike Jordan V's!!! I've wet myself, again. Anyway I would be remiss if I didn't mention the pair of shoes currently on my feet. This pair of nike presto worlds have been in the family for about three years now and show no signs of stoppin. I got them at the nike outlet near Austin, TX and have gotten every cent out of them. G! is laughing at my vans from high school, she has no love for the shoes. It's not a fetish, it's a disease. And for the record she owns more pairs then I do. I think I'm going to have to do a count.
I plan on posting on the new Ryan Adams disc 29 in the next day or two. Quick preview "It's good stuff" you Ryan Adams haters back off.

I wanna make you mine

Well since sumobeats brought it up I guess I could reminisce on my favorite pair of shoes ever. Yea, back in the basketball season of '90 I sported the Jordan V's. They are far and away the coolest shoes I've ever owned followed by those leather vans from highschool, the cole haan loafers from junior high and the red and black vision streetwear hightops. And of coarse the crazy white yellow and gray air force's I had previous to the jordan's. I've spent many I late night on ebay trying to bid on a pair of the retro jordan V's(issued in 2000) but to no avail. I've even considered selling my retro Jordan I's but...Oh shit, I just found a pair for a really good price!!

we don't know just where our bones will rest

This makes me feel better.

I will follow you into the dark

All right i just found out that Asia was in XXX with vin so she is dead to me.

When your out there on the road

I watched Land of the Dead last night. Okryan and I saw it at the dollar movies this summer but a kid in one of my classes had it the other day and let me borrow it so I've watched the movie and all of the extras and am about to watch it with the commentary. Besides the killer zombies and the shawn of the dead cameo the coolest thing about the movie has to be the strangely beautiful Asia Argento. She is a fox.
By the way i'd love to get The Zombie Survival Guide for christmas.

Everything is connected and beautiful

If I've made you a mix tape lately the Silversun Pickups have probably been on it in the form of the song Kissing Families. It is such a great tune. I particularly like the feedback/distortion crescendo near the end and the part where he screams the chorus. If I remember correctly I was turned onto this group by My Old Kentucky Blog a couple of months ago but I only grabbed this one song... Looks like I'm going to have to buy the album. They have a pretty nice website at http://www.silversunpickups.com be sure you check it out. You can check out their most excellent video at http://www.videocodezone.com/videos/s/silversun_pickups/kissing_families.html . It has it all, black eyes, floating bassists, beer, falling clocks and burning grilled cheese sandwiches. I've watched it about four times in a row. My butt has been kicked.

Does everyone know that I have a date with odida and the Fillmore? Ohh yes I'll be there one day.

I used to get loaded and drive your car

You can go here to download the title track to Ryan Adams new soon to be released album 29. That's just Casey Jones by the Dead right? He didn't even change all of the words. He's gonna have to pay someone for that. I do think I like the song, I'm just shocked at how similar it is.

While you're there grab Elbow's cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack since you already have the original. Sweet.

After that, go here and download the mash-up of Elvis and the Wailers. Pretty fucking sweet.

It looks like I may have another job in a few days! I guess that's good news. What is good news is the work Sumobeats has done on his site, a freaking Bob Marley video, bad action bro. In other update news. The lamest blog ever has been updated with a kick ass album download, if you like the new direction Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has taken with their sound... Which I do. I am also going to a conference in OKC on Friday which means no school.

Look who's blogging now

Just a couple of things to say today. One odida is a lucky, lucky little girl. I'd be surprised if she was still in possession of her socks after the SocialD concert she recently attended.

And the second and maybe even cooler thing(since I'm directly affected) my brother has joined the blogging community. I expect to see some crazy stuff on his site since he is a computer geek and actually knows what all that computer stuff in the template means. Like the picture illustrates, I know he's going to work hard to give us lots of funny/interesting stuff to comment on.

In apology news Sarah rulez and listens to all the cd's I make for her.XOXO

Goooooaaaaaaaaaaaaal

Another day of soccer.
Usually soccer Saturday is more than enough but after two games, a trophy presentation and cookout I went over to okryan's for a little of the Trinidad/ Tobago qualifying game and then part of the USA v. Scotland friendly match. Today caleb's team played well to a 5-1 loss. His team executed a perfect corner to header, sweet. Then back home in time to see the second half of the MLS Cup. Yea, the team I was rooting for won(no names, okryan had to work so it's been tivoed). Tomorrow: No soccer but a new trimester begins and G! and I no longer have plan together.

Everything looks perfect from far away.

That Landon Donovan is quite a looker. Today was CloClo's last soccer game of the season. She scored off of a sweet inadvertent knee. The Girls got mad skillz yo. Afterwards it was trophy's and burgers! Free food! Caleb has one more game on the morrow.
I was talking to sumobeats this morning while he was on his way to the gym when he informed me that a car in the parking lot of the gym was rolling very slowly towards a building. At that point he had to go and I'm left wondering what happened next... And so are you.

Iron & Wine rulz

I need some fine wine and you need to be nicer to me

I finally had to say "screw it" and make my own Arcade Fire shirt. I couldn't find one to buy anywhere. It is currently drying on the diningroom table or I'd hold it up to the screen for you to see. I just put on my favorite lyric and then drew a little picture in screenprinting ink. It doesn't say arcade fire on it but you'll know when you see it right?

I keep meaning to tell odida to check out Bloc Party(you probably already have) they have a cool vibe to their disc that I'm sure you'll like. Good night.

Love is just a game

Our friends at KCRW have another great show up, maybe even better than the My Morning Jacket set(since they didn't play my favorite track from the new album Knot comes loose). It's The Magic Numbers one of my current obsessions and probably one of the few discs on my Christmas list. Up tempo melodic 60's cali rock by way of Great Britain. Check out theSet you will not be disappointed(unless you have craptacular taste).

Odida recommends Catholic Comb who have a myspace page, go find it and tell me what you think.

Heads up to okryan and pg, it's time for Christmas lights at the theatre. Get out the ladder and prepare for a climb.

Keep it off the record

Check out the always awesome My Morning Jacket on KCRW from this morning. Stream the video and prepare to be amazed as Jim James hits those high notes! They are touring on the most excellent new album Z. I have high hopes thatthey will come somewhere near so that the Subaru Action Squad Sapulpa enclave can get on it.
okryan, Which mp3 player would you buy if you needed to rock and store chunks of data (research not porn) on it?
p.s. spell check wanted me to replace Sapulpa with shiplap, what the hell does that mean?

Hahahahahahahaha

Does this guy look like he knows what he's doing? I'll bet in the next picture he falls backwards into the lake.

Okryan this one's for you

Sleeping is giving in, no matter what the time is

Did you see what I added under Concerts I wish I could see? Rogue Wave is coming to OKC. If only I had two shiny pennies to rub together. oh well it only gets poorer from here (for the next three years at least).

I decided earlier in the day that I'd like to add an Arcade Fire t-shirt to my Christmas list. I ended up on their very cool web site and had no luck. In fact I had no luck anywhere on the web. Where are the shirts? Maybe I'll make my own. I did end up watching the Laika promo video, two performances of Rebellion(lies) and part of the ACL show with Clo Clo and Beezer(they both love to sing along) I then listened to Funeral and the Us Kids Know EP twice. Maybe there's a good law school in Canada. Perhaps that's going too far?

Repeat very fast please. Not so fast.

This post is for sumobeats and anyone else that enjoys a little intelligent rap music. I'm sure most everyone has heard of the DangerDoom album The Mouse and the Mask. It is a great collaboration between Danger Mouse and MF Doom they chop up a bunch of adult swim stuff for their tracks. It is great and hella funny. Here is my favorite track

Download : Sofa Kinghttp://www.savefile.com/files/8365296

So I have pleased the gods in some way. I came home Friday night completely intending to walk over to okryan's to watch the Ryan Adams letterman appearance on his new LCD TV. Unfortunately a group of bad bad ladies were at my house when I got home and they quickly got me too drunk to walk but I happened to stumble into the bedroom at some point and turned on the TV just as Dave was announcing Ryan. He was performing Come Pick Me Up, which we all know has several curse words in it. He basically just didn't sing those words and I guess because of time constraints he virtually cut out the harmonica solo in the middle and they didn't jam out at all there at the end. That having been said it was awesome. Ryan looked and sounded great, JP was nowhere to be found and Dave raved about the song when he came over to shake hands. Good stuff yo.
I'm kinda waiting for some wedding pictures to do the wedding post so stay tuned for that...
G! took me on an 8 mile walk today!

I am a bird now

okRyan and Em are funny.

Thursday, November 03, 2005

That ain't the hardest part

Ryan Adams will be on Letterman this Friday 11-4-05. He will be playing one of my favorites of all time Come Pick Me Up. The last time I say Ryan live he played half this song jumped off stage and reappeared on the bar to lead a sing-along. Inspired as always. Okryan has assured me that the TiVo knows we like Ryan Adams and will record it without asking.

I guess while I'm at it I should talk about Jacksonville City Nights. I love the disc. I know I'm extremely biased but hey, that's me. G! Always tells me to "turn off that country music" to which I reply rather sarcastically "it's alt-country". I've seen a lot of bad reviews of the album which mainly focus on how different this disc is from most of his other stuff. These are the same people who loved the Strokes first album but hated their second one after saying they hadn't changed their sound at all. Doesn't that mean you should also love the new album? I don't get it but I do love this disc.

Deep in My heart, that's where the knot comes loose.

Listen to the wedding Nazi!!

So here is my post on the wedding weekend. I should start by saying that catholic weddings are hilarious. I'd never been to one before.

I think the wedding weekend officially started when we met the groom and PG at the tux shop and found we had no money to pay for them. Luckily calls were made and credit card numbers procured. On to the church for the rehearsal. We met with the priest for a few minutes, em was late, where he informed us that although there were dogs listed in the program as attendants, his church did not allow dogs. It was the first we had heard of it. The Priest then turned us over to a stooped old man who quickly was christened the "wedding Nazi". He was crazy and had a list of what not to do as long as my (third)leg. (that jokes for you baby). His wife was also there and they were then collectively referred to as "The Wedding Nazis". I forgot to say that em made ryan shave so he bought shaving supplies and shaved in a wal green's bathroom. Then she brought him a change of close and the pants were too tight. Funny stuff. I most pause here and say that the church was kick ass but for what they paid I should have been able to sit in the big thrown with no pants on and they should have had more than one bathroom, but I'm just sayin'. The dinner was a lot of fun, except for the incredibly long hay ride. The food was awesome, the company was great the only problem was that we left about 9:15 so I probably could have made it to the Iron & Wine show.

Ryan and I had to coach two games for our under 8 girls team(both crushing defeats). So we were at the soccer fields for three hours. Plan's were made to meet at my house at 5:15(we had to be at the church at 6:00. Damn I'm tired, I'll finish this tomorrow.

edit - Lisa liked the mix. I Rawk. Ryan and em made it to Colorado.

She's like grace from the earth.

Be afraid, be very afraid

Wow the wedding weekend is over. Much fun was had but i'll post on that when i have a little more time.
Halloween went very well thank you. We had a wizard, the hulk, a Knight and a ghost.

Free pizza at co's to kick off the weekend and a shit load of candy to end the night on, good times.

PG and I did manage to get the tuxedos returned. The shop we rented them from has used tuxes for sale. i am seriously thinking about getting one. What do you think? I could wear it to play dominoes in and Luke has to get married eventually. I only wish they had the crushed red velvet jackets.

I made Lisa W a sweet(my opinion) mix tape. I can't wait to hear back from her. She is one of the few people that i feel actually listen to the mixes that i make them. Here is the track list.

1. Things are what you make of them - Bishop Allen

2. Une Annee Sans Lumiere - Arcade Fire

3. This beard is for Siobhan - Devendra Barnheart

4. Forever Lost - The Magic Numbers

5. Publish My Love - Rogue Wave

6. Love Will tear us apart - Jose Gonzalez

7. The Hardest Part - Ryan Adams

8. Kissing Families - Silversun Pickups

9. HeartBeats - The knife

10. He Lays in the Reins - Iron & Wine/Calexico

11. Wake Up - Arcade Fire

13. I See You, You See Me - The Magic Numbers

15. Let it Ride - Ryan Adams

16. Blow it Out - The Features

17. One Big Holiday - My Morning Jacket
