I love the music. I really love them and their sound. But, I feel like I haven't heard anything "new" from them. Their music hasn't changed or evolved in my opinion. If I listen to their first album I feel like I hear the same thing when I listen to this album. But, don't get me wrong the music is good and I especially liked the Sukie song. Thank you for sharing it.
of course it sounds like belle and sebatian- omg, that voice is undeniable...but to say they have not evolved? really? have you listened to storytelling or 'sinister lately? dear catostrophe waitress was huge for me, too- but this album is by far their best. (according to the band as well- in fact they have suggested this may be it because they want to end it on a high note) to me this album shows the result of their evolution. they hit it w/ this one. i admit, there have been albums where i may not love (or even like) every song... or some songs that are just too deeply personal for them at the time and don't seem pertinant now. They have also evolved in members- losing isobelle turned out to be a good thing. (in the end result- but it affected their sound for sure) many of the members they have now are new to the last 2 albums.. i think they have improved on what they do well. they are still belle and sebastian, yes (thankfully so) and yes, their sound is distinct, but to say that they have not somehow changed or evolved is more than unfair- it is simply untrue. it is too bad you cannot enjoy/ appreciate that.
fine, really it does not matter to me if you like them or not. i just think it is odd to say, "i like (insert band)- this album sounds like (insert band)- so I don't really like this album by (insert band)" I don't need a time out. i don't understand why i get chastized by you for going on a tangent about something- when you do it all the time.
i am smiling, by the way. did not mean to step on toes, just giving my opinion. i like music discussions- and yes i am aware that i am not belle and sebastian (i wasn't sure before)- but i am justified to say what i think. (so is everyone else)
it is called a conclusion to my arguement. (not a tizzy) it is where i show (sans doute) that i am right and (insert name) is wrong. mark is familiar with my style. i like to end w/ flair- drama even.
I lost the thread of that discussion after the mark may be ryan adams part, after that i was banging starlets and gulping wine and all the while writing awesome songs. I wrote two new ones while Lindsey blew me... I rock
